📜 Description

This is an example of the Confederate 3" shell made to be used in 3" ordnance rifles! This shell is 100% confederate and has solid provenance as to its recovery location! This shell was recovered from the 1864 battle of Brice's Crossroads Mississippi. Here Confederate forces under General Nathan Bedford Forrest scored a crushing victory against the Union army. This shell was fired by Morton's Battery during the battle. If you've wanted a shell fired by Forrest's artillery, then here it is !
The shell retains its fuze but threw 80% of its sabot when it was fired from the cannon.
Shell is inert and has been cleaned and coated.
Shell is a rarity 3 in Dickey & George shell book (page 191) this pattern of shell was made at most large foundries all across the south!
