US / CS 24-pounder solid shot cannonball from Port Hudson

📜 Description

This is a very attractive example of a 24-pounder solid shot cannonball for the smoothbore (5.82-inch) 24-pdr. cannon! This particular projectile was recovered at the Port Louisiana siege site that lasted from May 22-July 9, 1863, the longest siege of the Civil War! Both the Union and Confederate armies were armed with these cannons so it could be from either side. This is a very attractive cannonball that would be a good addition to any display.
