Confederate 3-inch smooth sided Read shell

📜 Description

This is a good honest example of the Confederate smooth sided Read shell for the 3-inch ordnance rifle or the 10 lb Parrott rifle. This fuze in this projectile partially unscrewed itself in flight and remains partially unscrewed but it will not move. There is also a very nice inscription done in white paint on the shell! This style of projectile is shown as a rarity 5 in the Dickey & George shell book on page 206. The shell has some rust remaining as well as a few small cracks but is preserved and stable.
The shell has a brass fuze and iron sabot.
Shell is coated and inert. Please see pictures for details!
