Hard to find CS 30-pounder Read Shell

📜 Description

This is an extremely rare smooth sided Read projectile for the 30-pounder Parrott rifle (4.2-inch diameter)! This shell is considered to be extremely long for the caliber of gun that would have fired it. This shell measures at a whopping 12 1/2 inches.
The shell has the ability to be fitted with a wooden fuze plug which is missing, as well as a wrought iron sabot. This projectile would be a great addition to any artillery collection!
These shells are illustrated in jack bells heavy artillery book on page 329.
