US Model 1851 Presentation Officers Sword Belt Plate on Belt

This is a fantastic example of what is known as a "presentation" Model 1851 officers sword belt plate. These plates were advertised for sale in 1864 by Schuyler, Hartley & Graham. This style of plate can be seen on page 387 in the "American Military Belt Plates" book by O'Donnell & Campbell. This belt plate is still on its original belt which is soft and pliable. This is an exceptional piece to add to any Civil War belt buckle and plate collection!
