Memphis Military Antiques
Memphis Military AntiquesThese are two very interesting German relics from WWII. These are pieces of an exploded M24 hand grenade. These grenades known more commonly as "potato mashers" or "stick grenades" this is a piece of one of the most easily recognizable WWII weapons! The lighter colored piece is the bottom cap that would have been unscrewed to reveal the porcelain ball and string that would be pulled to begin the detonation process. The iron piece is what the sheet metal can containing explosives would have screwed onto. The hole in the middle of that piece is to hold the detonator into the can.
