Memphis Military Antiques
Memphis Military AntiquesThis is a very nice WW2 Japanese Senninbari also known as a "1000 stich belt" or "good luck belt". These sashes were given to members of the Japanese Imperial Army as they headed off to war as a symbol of good luck and protection. This particular sash features a stitching of a red sun flag in the center as well as other Japanese characters. Both of the original fastening tassels are present. There are no rips, tears, or holes in this piece.
The sash measures at 38" long and 6 1/2" wide making for a good size display piece for any collection!
There also appears to be a couple of items stitched inside the belt itself but they are enclosed so you cant tell what they are so please see pictures.
It is made of silk.
